Exterior House Painting Preparation

First, we will meticulously clean the exterior surface of your home, removing all paint inhibiting particles that will disturb the exterior paint preparation.

Preparation of the exterior paint project is extremely important in attaining a long lasting, resistant finished product. Cali Custom Coatings makes sure your exterior paint project is thoroughly prepared before applying the first coat of paint.

Preparation consists of:

-Caulking around windows and doors

-Caulking all laps between wooden boards

-Stucco patching

-Priming any surface that was previously unpainted

-Any light fixtures, hardware and windows not to be painted will be masked off and protected the paint application

Staining Philosophy

Cali Custom Coatings takes pride in our staining services and it shows as we are premier stain providers for Berco Redwood and Emigh Hardware. Stain not only protects your deck or fence from weathering, it makes your deck or fence look beautiful! We believe stain is a unique coating that requires a professional and knowledgable applicant. Stain can be tricky to apply and if not done correctly can end up making a beautiful deck look ugly. We carefully wash each deck or fence stain with a pressure washer that is sure not to damage the wood. Dependent upon the health of the wood we can finish with any stain from transparent to solid.

Stain

People who prefer a more natural look to their wood should choose a transparent or semi-transparent stain. Transparent stain can leave wood looking absolutely normal like the day it was cut or can come in different pigments allowing the wood to have a different hue.

A semi-transparent stain will allow more coverage; although, the natural wood grain won’t show as much as a transparent stain. Semi-transparent stain can come in many different pigments ranging from different color reds to browns.

One who doesn’t care about the natural wood grain showing could opt for a solid color  stain. Essentially this is like painting the wood. Solid color stain can come in any color.

Stain Up-Keep

Transparent stain usually lasts anywhere from six to nine months.

Semi-transparent stain usually lasts anywhere from twelve to eighteen months.

Solid color stain usually lasts five to ten years depending on the condition of wood.

Price of the stain depends on the brand and quality of the product which Cali Custom Coatings will recommend which will work best with your wood.

Warranty

Warranty depends on type of stain but can be up to ten years.
